In between the red sirens and the white walls,
I could sense the presence
Of your hand on mine.
How young you were ,
when we first met.
In a red saree and a red bindi
I saw your first glance.
You were the shy little young girl
With a fear of moving past
the hamlet of yours.
You were heartbroken to part from the present.
On the other side,
I was that lad wanting for a companion,
And at that moment,
I was awed by the beauty and purity of yours.
My mind was still on a debate,
on how to make you feel secure.
That journey of ours
From your homeland
To my township.
I counted every tear you shed.
I tried to look through your veiled face,
Searching for the secret affairs
Between you & your sentiments.
I welcomed you to our new home
And I promised
To love you till my final breath.
40 years past that day,
Savoring the moments we have lived along.
And Every night I promise the same.
Tonight,
While moving on an ambulance,
I could see through my life again.
Holding your hand for the last seconds,
I promise you my love till my grave.
