Chapter-2. Closeness
Sipping the cup of coffee in the canteen both of them went to talking to their respective life. The whole environment was strange for everyone. The employees were surprised that the new entrepreneur on the very first day was having coffee with Shaboni. They were looking to them avoiding their eyes to Shaboni. She could feel that they were amazed. But Mr. Kumar went on asking her question one after another and she also replied to it in good confidence.
He asked, “Why do you want to work in this company? Means you could also work with some NGO as I left you in the orphanage yesterday and so I m asking you this. You would have some connection then.”
She kept the cup of coffee and replied charmingly with a smile that glazed her face, “That orphanage is my home. I am orphan and have been living there since I was 3 years old. And by the way I am working in this company as I wanted to work on my own. I give my half salary in the orphanage. There is lots of things need to be done in our orphanage and for that only donation of some amount is not sufficient. Every adult in our orphanage are working in somewhere to help our Mother (the owner of the orphanage).”
“This is a very good thing you all are doing and I m really sorry for asking you this now”, said Mr. Kumar in bowing his head.
She said, “It’s all okay. You will have this query I knew that earlier. And now can I ask you why you have selected only our company for new startup?”
“Yes yes! Why not? Actually I live in USA but my family lives in Delhi and they wanted me to work for their company and expand it so I thought it would be best if I select some good company and work in collaboration. I came out myself and moving to different places in search of that.”
“And so you are staying at the lodge?” Shaboni asked.
“Yeah! You are right.” He replied.
“It’s 10 o’clock dear” Mr. Kumar said while he was leaving office.
Shaboni had been working in her place since they came from the canteen. “I can drop you if you want then as I know your place and you too..... on your way….” He said joking but minding his words. She replied nodding her head with a sweet smile. “Come soon I am waiting in the parking.” He said walking back looking at her eyes.
‘Abhi na jao chod kar k dil abhi vara nahi………
Abhi abhi toh ayi ho, fiza ban k chayi ho……..’ Mr. Kumar played the audio while they were in the car. Shaboni said, “Yesterday actually it was my fault I was wearing earphones and listening to this song I was actually lost to this evergreen song.”
"It’s all okay I too was listening to this song” he said and both started to laugh. “That’s your place came.” He said stopping while the car and asked “Can I pick you tomorrow or will you want to be late again?”
“Let’s see…..” she replied while closing the door.
He had been waiting in front of the orphanage for a long time and then decided to go inside. He locked the car and crossed the road. It was a hugely design gate made of iron and only a small part of the gate can be opened for the individual than the whole one. When he opened the gate he saw a beautiful garden of different roses and other flowers. The corridors attached to the side of the garden. An old lady watering the plants welcomed him and asked what he wanted. He folded his hand and requested if she could call Shaboni and at the same time Shaboni came running hurriedly and wished, “GOOD MORNING SIR……. Shall we go?”
He was shocked but laughing from inside, “Yes yes why not you made me late too.”
She took some breathe quickly, smile and introduced her mother Mrs. Mira Jha (the owner of the orphanage). Mr. Kumar bent down and touched her feet. She blessed him and they bid her.
Shaboni asked while they were in the car, “What is your real name Sir?”
“Yes young lady my name is Inder Kumar.” And again he played their favorite audio. One month passed he used to drop and pick her from the orphanage. In Sundays, he used to visit the orphanage and played with the children, brought toys for them or sometimes edible things. In this way both of them came close to each other. Mrs. Mira Jha observed their closeness and used to talk to Inder about Shaboni as how she revived from the conditions after his coming to her life. But she didn’t speak anything to Shaboni as she didn’t want to make her tense with new issues and relationships. She overcame much of the depression alone which is only known by Mrs. Mira.
