At the onset of 'Bohag'
Warming emotions amidst cold realities
Winter has lingered for longer this year
Amidst dampening spirits
A dancer groomed her practice
The fields readied themselves
For this season was different
After a lapse of two years
Girls will drape the golden silk
Dhol will be struck again
The sun is brightening every day
Despite checks, restrictions in place
And yet
The dancers took to the stage
Vocal chords vibrated on the tunes of folk
By evening, a reluctant crowd assembled
Street food carts geared up
Some festive respite
From the gloomy happenings
As the beats hyped
Dancers in rhythm
Bystanders shouted in merry
The sky changed its mood
A sudden dramatic pause and then
Thunders, hail, downpour
They ran for cover
Flashbacks from those days
When strong winds and black thunders
Made kids like us run home
The loudspeakers kept playing
Our favorite Bihu songs
The cold realities tried to mock
The festive spirit of the folk
But the summer rains
Held us strong
And reminded us of our lost song.

I started writing about #festival day 15 but then realized that Bihu and Bordoisila are inseparable. So, this entry is for #rain too. The rain that accompanies our Bihu memories in the pre-monsoon April night.
For day 15 and 16...
Beautiful 💙 Brilliant how you wrote one poem on two themes and produced such a beautiful piece.
