It's a rusty memory
Of almost two decades old,
Going to school was my role,
Mom was busy taking care
Of her little one, and
I was running late for
My secondary home, my school
With RUSTOM Ji as my ride
To and from the school
With his friend RAMU, the horse.
It was fascinating how,
Ramu heeded all his calls
Whether it was to start or to stop.
I used to ask him many questions
About the steed, and very patiently
He used to answer them all.
Every day I was the only one
Getting my favourite orange candies,
Of which I often fed one to the Ramu.
I was the first one to be picked,
And the last ride Home,
And singing songs all time along,
With the other kids just like me,
Planning about which games to be played,
In the break time, and what they brought
In their tiffin box and that special ladoo,
That Maa said to not share with anyone
And I always shared it too.
I plucked so many beautiful leaves
Just to feed them to Ramu,
But of not any use
As he was not a fan of beautiful leaves.
I still miss Rustom Ji and Ramu
My all-time favourite ride to school.
